I see what you mean about today's karateka and the training not being as intense, but really, who's fault is that? I believe that somewhere along the line, many teachers in the U.S. made the choice to make karate a business and cater to the "customer". Standards dropped, competition became focal, and the whole thing eroded from there. And they did it because it was a fast buck and an easy one at that. Don't blame sincere and impressionable students for being taught wrong. Teachers, American & Okinawan, and their big organisations have contributed to this situation for decades.
