Sunday Jan 13th First 2008 Doshikai US Shorinryu Assn..... It was a beautiful day and the Giants won..... If you attended the doshikai you had the chance to enjoy both. Hanshi Ferrara, is recovering from surgery and asked Sensei Figgiani to work the kata Fukyugata -san Pinan Shodan and Naihanchi-shodan. The group practiced and had a look at the more esoteric meanings found in the kata. Reference to past training and different view points were included...giving each member a special insight to their own karate and how to unlock secrets to greater improvements. Kata is the essence of okinawan karate because of the nature that practice brings to the karate-ka Study of stances, motion of koshi, awareness of breath and focus of application make the "kata" unique especially for self-training in the dojo. The doshikai must re-enforce the quality of practice..commitment and research necessary to become proficient in Matsubayashi. Starting the New Year begins all over the setting of goals and support of the dojo. Thank you to all those that attended, I hope you recieved value for your day of training... I know that I did.
